FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What conditions does physiotherapy treat?

Physio treats all kinds of pain and injuries. Whether you’re dealing with a sports injury, post-surgery recovery, or chronic conditions like arthritis or back pain, physios work to treat both the symptoms and the root cause. They can help with muscle tears, tendon issues, repetitive strain injuries, postural problems, joint pain, and much more, basically anything that’s stopping your body from moving the way it should. For a more comprehensive list of conditions, check out our blog post what conditions does physiotherapy treat.

Do I need physiotherapy after an injury or surgery?

After surgery or an injury, physio can make a huge difference in helping you get back on your feet. A tailored treatment plan will help rebuild your strength, mobility, and flexibility. The sooner you start (as advised by your doctor), the quicker and smoother your recovery usually is.

What should I wear to a physiotherapy session?

Wear loose, stretchy clothes that allow your physio to see and work on the area that needs treatment. Shorts and a singlet work great, or joggers and a loose tee. In cooler weather, layering works well, just make sure you can easily remove anything that might get in the way. Comfy sneakers or trainers are ideal for any movement-based work.

Will physiotherapy be painful?

You might feel some temporary soreness, especially if you’re working on tight or injured areas, but it shouldn’t feel like pain. A bit of discomfort can be part of the healing process, but always let your physio know what you’re feeling so they can adjust and keep things safe.

Can I do exercises at home to recover faster?

Only if your physio gives the green light. Gentle, guided stretching or strengthening exercises can really help, especially as you build back mobility. Just avoid pushing through pain or jumping into exercise too soon, that can actually set you back.
